It’s a very exciting time for OAL as we've been shortlisted for not one, but two awards at the PPMA Show 2018. APRIL Eye (which is also up for an FDF award and a Food Processing Award), has its third shortlist in the Innovative Vision Solutions category. As well as that, we're thrilled that our latest innovation, our APRIL Robotics Weighing System has been shortlisted in the Innovative Robotic Solutions category.

APRIL Eye was developed as part of a Tesco led initiative to eliminate food waste in the supply chain. The artificial intelligence technology stops the wrong date codes being applied to products, stopping product recalls in the supply chain.

Our APRIL Robotics Weighing System was developed in 2017 as part of a government Innovate UK funded R&D project in collaboration with a major food manufacturer and the University of Lincoln.

The innovative system aims to fix manual weighing by fully automating bakery's ingredient handling and storage, eliminating cross-contamination, minimising human interventions and maximising traceability and accuracy. The robot cell automatically weighs powders to an accuracy up to +/- 0.1g, at weigh-up rates of up to 1,000kg/hr.

The winner of the award will be announced on Tuesday 25th in the evening of day 1 of the PPMA Show 2018 at the Hilton, NEC.

If you're attending the PPMA Show, visit our stand A100 to see a live demo of our APRIL Robotics Weighing System and speak to our experts about how our food techs can transform your manufacturing.
